The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has celebrated the World Health Day under the theme “Health for All” by organizing an awareness walk started from PFA Headquarters and ended at Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai underpass, Canal Road.
PFA Director General Raja Jahangir Anwar led the walk, participated by a large number of Additional Director Generals, Directors and staff of the authority here on Friday. The purpose of the walk was to raise awareness and bring attention of the people towards the health issues.
On the occasion, PFA Director General Raja Jahangir said that PFA’s nutrition teams have been providing awareness on social media regarding healthy food on a daily basis. He said that choosing nutritious food is the key to a healthy life and everyone should consume a balanced and safe diet to keep themselves healthy.
He said that special teams constituted to ensure the provision of healthy food for people on the eve of Eid. He stated that people will notice a marked change in food quality in the next three months.
On the directions of the Punjab government, special checking of milk and yogurt points is being carried out during the Ramadan. He has requested people to join hands with PFA against the adulteration mafia in order to root out their illegal businesses from Punjab.
Raja Jahangir urged the masses to adopt a simple and healthy lifestyle as well as ensure exercise regularly. Further, he appealed to the public to read the writing on the label before purchasing any foodstuff.
Throughout the day, PFA food safety teams have been performing their duties in the field without any discrimination to check the quality of milk, dairy products, meat, pulses, snacks, beverages and other food items, he added.
