Relief Commissioner Chairs Meeting About Amendments in NDMA Act

Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed chaired a meeting at his office to deliberate on amending NDMA Act.
The meeting was attended by several key officials, including the Director General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Imran Qureshi, Director of PDMA Shayan Ali Java, Director (Coordination) Tariq Mahmood Bokhari, Director (Operations) Nisar Ahmad Sani, Director (South) Hamidullah Malik, and others.
During the meeting, DG PDMA Imran Qureshi provided a comprehensive briefing on the proposed amendments to the NDMA Act. He also highlighted the current availability of relief supplies in warehouses and discussed the necessary arrangements to tackle potential rainfall-induced disasters.
Emphasizing the importance of preparedness, Relief Commissioner Punjab stressed that the provincial control room of PDMA and district emergency operation centers must remain fully operational at all times. He urged the staff to stay fully prepared to effectively handle any natural disaster that may arise.
Additionally, the Relief Commissioner urged relevant line departments to ensure the use of earthquake-resistant materials in newly constructed buildings. This proactive measure aims to safeguard human lives and minimize property damage in the event of an earthquake. He concluded by affirming that PDMA is committed to maintaining strong coordination with government departments to actively work towards ensuring the safety and well-being of the public.
