Chairperson Child Protection and Welfare Bureau, Sarah Ahmad, has said that effective legislation can curb the menace of child labour. She was attending a provincial forum organized by the Child Protection Bureau and a welfare organization as a chief guest. The forum discussed proposals regarding the eradication of child domestic labour. Addressing the participants, Chairperson Sarah Ahmad said that all stakeholders must come together to play their role in ending child domestic labour. The elimination of child labour is essential to prevent incidents of violence against children. Child domestic labour is being transformed into productive citizens through education.
The provincial forum was attended by Director General Child Protection and Welfare Bureau, Aftab Ahmed Khan, actress and child rights activist Nadia Jamil, actress Sarwat Gillani, Chairperson National Commission on the Rights of Children, Aisha Raza Farooq, and others. Representatives from the police department, social welfare department, school education department, human rights department, FIA, prosecution department, and various NGOs also participated in the forum.
