Fast internet is very important for getting employment from e-commerce and freelancing services,” said Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif in a meeting with PTCL Group President and CEO Hatem Bamatraf and Group Chief Regulatory Officer Naveed Khalid Butt to discuss cooperation for digitalization and digital communication in Punjab. She added,” Digital technology projects should be implemented equally in rural and urban areas.”
Earlier, Madam Chief Minister was briefed by Hatem Bamatraf on PTCL's high speed internet and better connectivity for public sector projects. He appreciated Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Digital Punjab vision, and assured her of full cooperation.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also discussed with Hatem Bamatraf expansion and improvement of telecommunication infrastructure in Punjab in order to improve internet access in urban and rural areas. She noted,”Free Wi-Fi service has been launched in Lahore, will be extended to other districts soon.”
Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman was also present on the occasion.
