Punjab has announced the establishment of a 50-acre Film City in Lahore, marking a major development aimed at revitalising the province’s film and media landscape. The project will be developed within the Nawaz Sharif IT City, positioning it as part of a broader technology-driven urban framework designed to support innovation and creative industries.
The Film City is envisioned as Pakistan’s first fully integrated, end-to-end media production hub, bringing film, television, animation, and digital content creation under one roof. It will feature world-class studios, sound stages, advanced visual effects (VFX) facilities, and post-production laboratories, enabling local creators to complete projects domestically without relying on foreign services.
Plans for the facility also include purpose-built shooting sets, a central lake for large-scale productions, and a convention hall to host international events and award ceremonies. Additionally, a media trade hub and specialised film and music schools are expected to be part of the complex, supporting both industry growth and talent development.
