Punjab Launches First State-Run Deceased Transport Service for Bereaved Families

Chief Minister Punjab has launched Pakistan’s first government-run “Deceased Transportation Service” to support bereaved families. The service, introduced in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan, will provide free and dignified transport of the deceased from government hospitals to their homes.

In the initial phase, the service operates within these three cities, with plans to expand to all tehsils across Punjab by June, ensuring a dedicated ambulance in each area. Families can access the service by calling Rescue 1122, with round-the-clock availability.

The chief minister said the initiative aims to ease the burden on grieving families, emphasizing that no charges should be taken under any circumstances.
